The Burlington County IT Department used email to receive and manage requests for user support and wanted to leverage the workflow capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal 2007 (MOSS) to automate specific pre-defined support requests such as new user provisioning. InfoPath was used to create a user interface to gather the necessary information to submit the request. A SharePoint workflow controlled the routing for approval by the new user’s department head. Active Directory entities were automatically created and a notification email sent after workflow completion. A repeatable development process was defined and documented so the development team could continue to implement workflows for similar requests as needed.
